Overview
This collaborative project between BD, RXinnovate Consulting, and Parkland Memorial Hospital focused on designing, building, and implementing the Pyxis ES system across the entire facility. The initiative aimed to improve speed, efficiency, and quality while optimizing inventory, enhancing customer satisfaction, and increasing revenue.
Project Timeline, Steps, and Results
Phase 1: Planning and Strategy
- May 15, 2025: Agreement finalized between BD and Parkland Memorial Hospital.
- May 21 to 22, 2025: Onsite strategy meeting with BD, RXinnovate, and Parkland teams.
- Established project roadmap, built room layout, data analysis process, and implementation schedule.
Phase 2: Optimization and Preparation
- Late May to June 2025: RXinnovate onsite to optimize existing equipment.
- Conducted tower rebuilds, removed outdated inventory, and enhanced inventory accuracy and value.
- Introduced major safety and quality improvements by eliminating most matrix drawers and transitioning to secure cubie pockets for better medication security.
Phase 3: Build and Implementation
- June 23, 2025: Equipment delivered to the offsite build room.
- Total of 572 devices installed, including:
- 201 MedStations
- 59 Aux units
- 62 Towers
- 191 Remote Managers (RMs)
- 59 Anesthesia Systems
- July 14 to September 30, 2025: Go-live phase completed across all clinics and hospital departments.
- All equipment will be implemented within 75 days, with go-lives starting two months after contract signing.
Results
